Christmasy Things

Well, it has been a busy...no, make that crazy week around here! It's a symphony work week for me which means I'm gone every evening. We're still trying to recover our household from the upheaval of moving everything to paint. And I've had appointments stacked up one on top of the other for me and the boys.
On weeks like this, I rarely get any scrapping done, but crafting is my therapy and I sure have needed some of that this week! So, I chose a couple small projects that could be easily completed in separate steps since I only had 15 minutes at a time here and there.
Here's a cute little Christmas jar that was inspired by the tag project on Shimelle's blog last weekend:
Now, don't freak out...us crafty people have to start on Christmas before Thanksgiving because we actually make things...it takes a little more time! ;) But, if it makes you feel better, I haven't turned on the Christmas music yet, so I was still crafting to other musical selections (this week, it was probably kids music! ha!)

Here's another project I managed this week - a garland! Also inspired by another post from Shimelle's Christmas Crafting weekend and, lucky you, if you want to pop over and check it out, this one had a video to go along with it! It was great to have ideas percolating in my head during a busy week!

I had a whole bunch of blue circles left over from creating Little Brother's birth announcements (yes, it's been awhile) and I decided that this was the perfect opportunity to use them up! After I chose the sentiment I wanted to use, I decided that it was also a great opportunity to put some techniques from Pretty Paper party's prompt #21 which was all about using sparkle and shine. I splattered pearlescent paint on the smaller circles first - hoping to create that starry night feeling. Then I used loose glitter (CTMH's prisma glitter) to cover all the chipboard stars.

It definitely came out sparkly...even if the pictures don't show it well. I am looking forward to adding this to my Christmas decor! (or maybe some sweet friend will receive it as a gift this season....)
