Mom, the Engineer

Yes, life is not fair and certainly not all about equity with regards to siblings and their possessions...
however, sometimes I deem it necessary to create some semblance of sameness in order to keep my sanity!

Today, I turned this:

(it's my husband's red cummerbund from sometime in his distant marching band past)

Into this:

This is a Captain America shield imitator - and at least it was successful enough that my nearly-2-year-old deemed it acceptably comparable to his brother's much more authentic CA shield. In fact, even Big Brother was willing to play with this once it had been re-engineered to meet play specifications. 
 The secret: it was the elastic...very important to have a strap to hold if it is to be functional as a shield!
