You're Gonna Love This!!

Hold, please.

I'm taking a mid-week break from showcasing all the beautiful projects you can make with the new Wings Workshop on the Go to bring you a cute, fun, and easy project that I saw today on one of the blogs that I follow.

A super-crafty chick from Florida authors the lovely blog Two Shades of Pink. Today she shared a heart garland that she made with a cereal box and some old socks and sweaters. No joke. It's gorgeous, go see it.

So, I have these three little hooks just inside my front door. At Easter they hold butterflies; in the fall I put up a trio of metal dipped leaves; and at Christmastime I put up some adorable little snowmen.

I was just packing up all my Christmas decorations and wondering what I was going to do with the those three hooks - now forlornly bare. It's way too early - and much too cold to put up my delicate, pastel butterflies. I needed something for Valentine's day.

As I was catching up on a few blogs this afternoon, Jessica's idea inspired me. So here's my take on her project:

I love that it's casual and warm.

I love the cozy feeling of using cushy textured fabrics. It's still very much winter here so I need this right now.

I love that I grabbed a couple socks from my rag bag (and a washcloth!) to make this.

Here's a funny thing: the red sock was an old airplane sock whose mate was long gone but I couldn't bear to part with it for silly sentimental reasons - I got it on one of my trips to Africa, really, how could I get rid of it?!

Now that sentimentality is embedded in my cute little project... fitting that it's hearts, I guess.

Here's a little closer look at the fabrics.

This was fun! Try it if you like it. Jessica's post gives a step by step tutorial for how to put it together. Go visit her...she took much better pictures of hers.

I was in a hurry. Surprise, surprise.

Rachel!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, this is just beautiful! LOVE, LOVE IT! And a washcloth? BRILLIANT! I made some fabric canvas art for a friend with dishtowels once and no one would have known. But your textures are perfect and I love the shapes of your hearts! Rachel, thank you so much for sending me a link to your project. You have inspired ME right back! :)
