Fun with Color

I've been checking in on a fun blog recently called Heart 2 Heart Challenges. Each week they post a new challenge and people create projects to the guidelines of the challenge and link them on the blog.

I've actually had a good chunk of working creative time this week (miracle!) so I found myself wanting to play along with Monday's challenge.

It was a color challenge...create a project using these Close To My Heart Colors:
Ever since our new colors were released this fall, I've been wanting to use Sunset ink to create (of all things...) a sunset! So I set to work with that goal in mind and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

I started with a 5x7 White Daisy card. I tore some cloud shapes out of scrap paper and taped them on as a mask. Then, I used my rubber brayer to apply Indian Corn Blue ink and Sunset ink to make the sky. A bit of Brown Bag cardstock, torn and heavily sponged with Brown Bag ink gave me satisfying texture for the ground, and I used the MyAcrylix set 'Grown with Love' for the tree. I finished the clouds with a tiny bit of sponging in Sunset ink (after removing the mask) to give them some extra texture and I used a leaf punch I had lying around (no brand name on it...) to punch the leaves out of paper from the Olivia paper pack.

For some reason, looking at this card makes me want to curl up on the couch under my favorite cozy blanket with a nice cup of hot tea. I guess it's because, around here, any evening that's clear and has trees bare of leaves is inevitably cold and usually windy.

I feel a movie and some popcorn coming on!
